Poland is situated in the heart of Europe, the country acts as a bridge between East and West, bordering Germany and the Czech Republic to the West, Slovakia in the South and Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and Russia (Kaliningrad Oblast) to the East, as well as the Baltic Sea and 300 miles of coastline to the North. These land borders have changed numerous times through the country’s history, so much so that at certain times there hasn’t even been a Poland on the map – not officially, at least.
